Volume 2 Issue 3 ISSN 1934-1725
I would love to be able to take full
credit for the work that makes The
Sylvan Echo happen. But I can’t. The
writers and artists who entrust us with
their work must be commended for
their courage – publishing is a scary,
often brutal adventure. But with every
issue there are pieces to work with and
I am humbled.
And for this particular issue, the
boundless energy and effort of one
volunteer editor must be noted.
Without the unwavering dedication of
Patrick O’Neil, it is likely that this issue
would have been delayed. But he
persevered and shaped a journal of
which he can personally be very proud.
I am proud of it and him. I am sure you
will enjoy his choices as much as I
have. MJ.
English Lane in Winter By Robin Buehler

Weddings, funerals, babies, family
crisis, promotions, unemployment,
moving, sabbaticals, staff changes,
computer crashes, even parrots eating
the E off of a keyboard (really, stuff
like this cannot be made up!). It always
amazes me that in the end we have
something special.
Something we can be proud of.
With every issue I ask myself, why I am
doing this? Why would a rational
human being put themselves through
this? But something magic happens
with the first acceptance letter that
sparks a creative chord – and we’re off
and running.
